Thanks Brian for your message, and sorry for my late response, GGJ week among other things!

Your plan of making a 2D engine sounds amazing! I am planning to work on one too in the next months. I am deep now with Python and Pygame but I want to jump to C++ and SDL soon. In my case, I want to do a 2D platformer / cinematic engine, close to what Eric Chahi's Another World and Flashback showed.

Lol I am moving to Linux too, actually I am learning / developing in Raspbian with my Rpi2, it's an amazing hardware!

Please, keep us informed of your 2D game engine development process.

Keep having a great time!

I got pretty far with PyGame many years back making a 2D overhead RPG engine, but I have since forgotten it. I don't think I want to go back to C++ either because I just don't have time to build something from scratch. Honestly I may stick with DarkBASIC for my 2D engine, but I am still patching Brigand, so I still have time to think about it.

Edit: Also Another World was amazing. (We call it Out of This World in gringo land)

Sounds great! I am planning also to do some interesting things on Pygame. Yeah, CPP takes some time to learn, I have been looking at Udemy and Youtube and there are many high-quality tutorials, though.

Yeah, Out of this World was amazing! thanks to that game I am in this industry. Check out this link:
